Greensboro-Cora Lee Tucker Pegram, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 16, 2015. She had enjoyed over 101 years with family and friends.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Friday February 20, 2015 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville with her great-grandson Rev. Jeremy Pegram and Rev. Bill Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in the Ai Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
The family will visit with friends from 2-4pm Thursday afternoon at the funeral home.
Cora was born in Guilford County April 26, 1913 to Henry Clay and Annie King Tucker. She never lived more than 15 miles from her birthplace. She enjoyed traveling to over 20 states, but for her there was no place like home.
One of her proudest accomplishments was being the first in her family to graduate from high school. She was the longest living member of the Colfax High School Class of 1932.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Howard Pegram, along with two daughters Wanda Kay Pegram and Margaret Faye Holbrook, a son Donald Ray Pegram died at birth, and granddaughter Teresa.
Survivors include her daughters Shirley Pearson of Elon, and Peggy Twiddy and Marshall of Greensboro; sons John Pegram and Maxine of Oak Ridge, Wayne Pegram of Greensboro, and Mickey Pegram and Kathy of Greensburg, Kentucky; she leaves great memories of her fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great grandchildren; sisters Thelma Atchison, Mary Stack, and Betty Robinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends and family may sign, and view the guestbook at www.Pierce-JeffersonFuneralService.com
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Greensboro, or the Oak Ridge Preservation Committee for restoration of Ai Church. Some of Cora's fondest memories were of walking to Ai for church services on Sundays.
